Role Responsibilities

The China Legal Analyst will play a crucial role in supporting the monitoring and enforcement activities of the Interagency Center on Trade Implementation, Monitoring, and Enforcement (ICTIME) within the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative. Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting in-depth research on assigned topics utilizing both electronic and print resources, with a focus on Chinese language materials.
  • Summarizing findings from Chinese sources in English, both orally and in written form.
  • Translating Chinese documents and excerpts into English.
  • Drafting comprehensive memoranda and reports that summarize and analyze research outcomes.
  • Assisting in the collection of evidence for legal proceedings and investigations.
  • Performing fact-checking and citation verification.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Advanced proficiency in written Chinese.
  • Thorough understanding of research methodologies and sources in Chinese.
  • Ability to identify and analyze relevant information from Chinese legal and regulatory texts.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage and interpret information from diverse Chinese sources.
  • Exceptional written communication skills in English, capable of addressing complex topics with clarity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively under tight deadlines.
