Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Teacher to join our team at Cornerstone Family Ministries Inc. As an Assistant Teacher, you will play a vital role in supporting the Lead Teacher in implementing lesson plans and ensuring the daily care and education of young children.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Care for children with dignity and respect, meeting their needs in a nurturing environment.
  • Adhere to teacher interaction requirements, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, keeping them informed about their child's progress.
  • Support the program philosophy, policies, and procedures, demonstrating a commitment to excellence.
  • Collaborate with therapists and other professionals to enhance each child's development, making referrals as needed.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and organized classroom environment, sanitizing toys and equipment daily.
  • Assist with developmental checklists, Individual Education Plans, and progress notes for each child.
  • Complete required training and certifications, including First Aid and CPR.
  • Attend staff, family support planning, parent, and committee meetings, documenting significant events.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED, with a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential preferred.
  • 45 hours of Early Childhood Training through the Department of Children and Families.
  • Pass state and local background checks to the satisfaction of Childcare Licensing.
  • Enrolled in a degree-seeking AA or BA Early Childhood Education Program at an accredited college or university, with proof of enrollment and transcripts.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of child development and complete state required screening and background checks.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 lbs.
