About the Role

We are seeking a highly accomplished Distinguished Engineer to lead and inspire our engineering teams responsible for developing and maintaining our foundational data platforms and delivering great integrated platform experiences for our users.

As a key member of our technology leadership team, you will oversee the design, architecture, and implementation of critical data platforms, including relational and non-relational databases, streaming platforms, analytical data lakehouse, business intelligence tools, AI/ML and GenAI platforms.

Your expertise will be instrumental in driving innovation and ensuring the scalability, reliability, and performance of our data ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic direction and technical guidance to engineering teams across multiple data platforms, domains, and geographies.
  • Design and evolve the overall architecture of our foundational data platforms, ensuring they align with business objectives and meet the evolving needs of our organization.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation, driving the adoption of emerging technologies and best practices in data platform engineering.
  • Mentor engineering talent, building high-performing teams and fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Partner with product management, data science, and other stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges related to data platform security, governance, performance, scalability, and reliability.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies in the transactional and analytical data engineering space.

Requirements

  • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field or equivalent experience.
  • 10+ years software engineering experience as an individual contributor.
  • Proven track record as a Distinguished Engineer or equivalent role in a technology-driven organization.
  • Deep expertise in foundational data platforms, including relational and non-relational databases, streaming platforms, data lakehouses, AIML/GenAI platforms and business intelligence tools.
  • Deep understanding of data architecture for transactional and analytical solutions.
  • Strong understanding of AI/ML technologies and their application to data-driven solutions.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and inspire teams.
  • Proven ability to drive innovation and solve complex technical challenges.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Hands-on experience with data engineering tools and technologies.
  • Active involvement in the open-source community and a history of contributing to relevant projects and/or experience in publishing technical articles.
