Role Responsibilities:
The Certified Surgical Tech will uphold the mission, vision, and values of the Mercy Health Care System. Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring proper exposure and visibility of the surgical area.
- Performing clamping, tying, suturing, or coagulating as instructed during surgical procedures.
- Applying knowledge of surgical techniques, anatomy, and physiology.
- Maintaining professional accountability for patient care for assigned individuals.
- Evaluating the effectiveness of care provided by other caregivers.
- Coordinating patient care in collaboration with various departments.
- Safeguarding patient rights and confidentiality of information.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
- Licensure: Experience in Surgical Technology or a degree from an accredited program preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of two years in an Operating Room setting.
- Certifications: Certification as a Surgical First Assistant is required within 90 days of hire/transfer.
- Preferred Certifications: Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) preferred.
