About the Role

The Chief Estimator is a key leadership position responsible for overseeing the Estimating team at Huen Electric. This role involves planning, coordinating, and directing the team's efforts to deliver accurate and timely estimates for electrical construction projects. The Chief Estimator will work closely with the Operations Manager and Division Manager to select projects and ensure that the team is equipped to meet the company's goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer operating budgets, staffing, work assignments, and performance reviews for the Estimating team
  • Develop and maintain cost data, including labor and equipment rates, installation methods, and production rates
  • Prepare weekly bid calendars and ensure timely completion of estimates
  • Review and evaluate requests for estimates, proposals, and qualifications
  • Lead, direct, and audit the work of assigned staff; act as a mentor
  • Develop and maintain relationships with existing and new clients
  • May develop training requirements for the estimating staff
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Lead or Senior level Estimator
  • 10+ years of experience within the construction industry
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; combination of relevant education and experience considered in lieu of degree
  • Working knowledge of the NEC and local codes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and estimating software
  • Team player with excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills
