Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Highway Maintenance Specialist to join our team at the State of Colorado. As a Highway Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient maintenance of Colorado's roadways.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks on roadways, including plowing snow, operating heavy equipment, and repairing potholes.
  • Inspect and maintain roadways, bridges, and other transportation infrastructure to ensure they are safe and in good condition.
  • Respond to emergency situations, such as accidents or inclement weather, to ensure the safety of the public and minimize disruptions to traffic.
  • Collaborate with other maintenance teams to ensure that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Operate a variety of heavy equipment, including tandem dump trucks, loaders, and tractors.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A or B with no restrictions on air brakes.
  • At least two years of experience in physical labor and/or heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with colleagues and the public.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience operating heavy equipment, such as tandem dump trucks, loaders, and tractors.
  • Experience in road maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols.
  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures and weather conditions.
