Job Summary:

The JWCH Downtown Hotel (DTLA) is seeking a compassionate and skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to join our team in the DTLA Hotel Housing Program. As an LVN, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care to homeless individuals, helping them improve their health conditions and enhance their social and activities of daily living (ADL) skills.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform routine patient care functions as prescribed by established policies and procedures within defined scope of education, training, and responsibilities.
• Use and practice "basic assessment" (e.g., data collection) and document data in accordance with the policies and procedures of JWCH and the standards of LVN practice.
• Contribute to evaluation of the patient's individualized interventions related to the care plan and treatment plan.
• Perform basic patient care consistent with the policies and procedures of JWCH and the LVN licensure laws of the State of California.
• Apply principles of aseptic technique and infection control per policy and procedures.
• Recognize the need for emergency care; initiate appropriate procedures within the scope of practice and alert the Nurse Manager and physician in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Conduct patient education and support patient's self-management goals according to JWCH policies and procedures.
• Delegate selected tasks to a medical assistant, consistent with that individual's job description and the policies and procedures of JWCH.
• Assist medical personnel with procedures and/or diagnostic exams.
• Keep patient exam rooms and work areas clean and stocked.
• Document pertinent patient information, procedures performed, and patient responses, following established policy and procedures.
• Maintain standards of cleanliness, organization, and an adequate level of supplies for the exam rooms or assigned work area.

Requirements:

• Current and valid California LVN License.
• Current BLS card from the American Heart Association.
• At least one-year experience in an ambulatory care setting.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with patients, families, and the healthcare team.
• Proficient in performing basic nursing skills, such as taking vital signs, administering medications, and assisting with activities of daily living.
• Ability to operate and maintain medical equipment.
• Ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals, including registered nurses, physicians, and support staff.
• Experience in working with clients and staff from diverse socio-economic, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred.
