The Orthopedic Technician at Marshall Medical Center plays a vital role in ensuring the delivery of effective medical care to patients. This position requires strong communication and organizational skills to maintain the continuity of patient care and ensure patient satisfaction. The Orthopedic Technician will prepare patients for examinations and assist providers as needed, applying and removing orthopedic devices and appliances, completing medication refills, lab result follow-ups, referrals to specialists, and patient callbacks.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Licensure/Certification: Completion of a Certified Orthopedic Technology Training Program is required. Completion of a Medical Assisting Program is also required. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required.
Knowledge: Previous experience with injections, EKGs, medication administration, and/or taking vital signs is required. Basic computer/data entry and electronic medical record (EMR) experience is also required. Knowledge of medical terminology and patient/family health education is necessary.
Skills: Accurate and clear clinical documentation in Electronic Medical Record is essential. Excellent verbal and written interpersonal communication skills are required. Strong organizational skills and the ability to reprioritize work demands as needed are also necessary. A pleasant and friendly demeanor and ability to maintain a positive and team-oriented attitude are essential.
Responsibilities: The Orthopedic Technician will be responsible for verifying and processing insurance eligibility and obtaining authorization requests, including verifying personal credentials with external partners to obtain this information. The technician will also be responsible for applying, adjusting, fitting, and removing common orthopedic devices and appliances.
