About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our pharmacy department, you will play a critical role in providing pharmaceutical care to patients with psychiatric conditions. Your expertise and clinical judgment will enable you to develop and implement effective treatment plans that improve patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Pharmaceutical Care

As a Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, your primary responsibility will be to provide pharmaceutical care to patients with psychiatric conditions. This includes reviewing and interpreting physician orders, detecting therapeutic incompatibilities, and dispensing medications. You will also need to ensure that routine and priority tasks are completed within established departmental time frames.

Mentor and Educate

You will have the opportunity to mentor and educate students, interns, and pharmacy technicians on various aspects of pharmacy practice. This will help them build confidence in their skills, knowledge, and abilities.

Collaborate with Healthcare Professionals

As a member of our interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients. You will need to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless care coordination.

Ensure Patient Safety

Patient safety is our top priority. As a Psychiatric Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, you will participate in quality improvement processes to identify and mitigate potential risks. You will also maintain a clean, neat, and safe working environment by complying with policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Education

A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution is required.

Certifications and Licensure

You must be licensed as a pharmacist in the state where you will be practicing. Additionally, you should possess certifications such as Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

Experience

At least 3 years of recent experience in a psychiatric pharmacy setting is preferred.

Skills and Qualifications

You should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHRs) and EPIC systems is also desirable.

Salary

The estimated salary for this position is $102,195 per year, based on industry standards and location.
