Job Title: Shop Pipe Fitter

Join RK Mechanical as a skilled Shop Pipe Fitter and contribute to the success of our team. As a Shop Pipe Fitter, you will be responsible for operating trade-specific machinery and tools, reading and interpreting blueprints, and creating high-quality weldments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operate trade-specific machinery and tools, including calipers, weld gauges, and tape measures.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and engineering drawings to accurately create equipment and products.
  • Create specific weldment set-ups and fixturing to meet geometric requirements.
  • Work closely with other fabricators, welders, and laborers to improve their skills and provide training.
  • Maintain weld machines using preventative maintenance methods.
  • Continually evaluate weld machine performance and technology to improve cycle times.
  • Assist shop foreman or superintendent with production tracking and ensure production goals are met.
Requirements:
  • 5 years of experience, 3 years welding experience minimum preferred.
  • Familiarity with welding on a rotator and understanding fitting up with a rotator in mind.
  • Knowledge of various welding techniques, including MIG and ARC welding processes.
  • Familiarity with TIG a plus.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and manual and mechanical welding techniques.
  • Knowledge of pipe trade tools, including Two-Hole Pins, Center-finders, Pipe wraps, and Angle finders.
