POSITION TITLE:

Associate Manager, State Seed Certification Services

POSITION OBJECTIVE:

Lead projects and assist in managing the operational, financial, personnel, and strategic functions of the Seed Certification Service for the State of Wyoming. Independently oversee and coordinate intricate administrative tasks that significantly influence operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Supervise and/or execute complex administrative tasks that greatly affect departmental operations.
  • Manage the Foundation Seed Program, including budget planning and oversight.
  • Provide project leadership; independently assist in coordinating operational, financial, personnel, and strategic functions; act as a liaison with other University departments and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct research and respond to complex inquiries related to the department; analyze and integrate statistical or other relevant data; prepare comprehensive reports and documentation.
  • Organize or facilitate symposia, conferences, and meetings, including agenda design and implementation, speaker selection, and marketing.
  • Oversee the management of unit/program files and records; serve as the primary resource for interpreting policies and procedures.
  • Assist in planning and budgeting projects related to the department; may seek and manage funding for research or related agreements.
  • Support the establishment or revision of policies, systems, methods, and procedures; prepare related documentation, including the design and implementation of software programs as necessary.
  • Utilize ARC-GIS or similar software to map fields for supporting inspections, long-term data collection for field history and weed infestations, and maintaining a database of grower, field, variety, and inspection activities.
  • Inspect seed crops in Wyoming, primarily in collaboration with other program staff based on workload demands.
  • Identify, interview, and recruit seasonal field inspectors and hourly staff, including completing all HR documentation. Provide supervision and training for seasonal/hourly staff.
