Job Summary

The Facility Maintenance Technician will perform routine maintenance and repairs of facilities, grounds, and related utilities, utilizing various trade practices associated with occupations such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and painting.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform preventive maintenance and repairs of facilities, equipment, and utilities.
  • Travel to different sites for service calls and perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance and repairs.
  • Support exterior grounds activities, including grass cutting, trash removal, landscaping, and parking lot maintenance.
  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC, electrical, plumbing systems, and water distribution and sewage facilities.
  • Support sanitation processes and procedures, including rodent and pest control.
  • Perform painting, small-scale structural repairs, and other maintenance tasks as needed.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Surveys work requirements, measures and calculates materials, labor, and systems requirements, and prepares material lists.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests, troubleshoots issues, and determines cause and solution.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; formal trade school or associate degree in facility management, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of two years experience in maintenance trade, with strong knowledge of electrical, plumbing, and structural repairs required.
  • Valid Indiana Driver's License required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to read and understand drawings, schematics, blueprints, and technical manuals.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, plumbing systems, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to reset time clocks and controls for various building systems.
  • Operational knowledge of safety principles related to personal protective equipment, chemical hazards, and shop safety and cleanliness practices.
  • Ability to select and use correct parts, tools, and test equipment to perform maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate information effectively.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and manage tasks and time effectively.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to work in a deadline-oriented environment.
  • Ability to work independently with work checked regularly.
  • Ability to work in close quarters, at heights, outdoors, and to repeatedly move or transport heavy objects weighing up to 75 lbs.
  • Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time and move throughout the workday.
  • Ability to use tools to perform work, including removing and installing small parts and components.
