Job Summary

At Belk, we're reimagining the department store experience. As a Support Associate, you'll provide exceptional customer service, demonstrate a passion for retail and fashion, and adapt to change efficiently. You'll also continually seek to learn about Belk's merchandise and stay up-to-date on industry technology. Your goal will be to ensure new receipts are merchandised in a way that aligns with our brand, appeals to our customers, and encourages them to make a purchase. You'll work closely with a team that cares about our customers in an environment where we thrive by working together.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactively greet and engage customers warmly and with a smile
  • Support the store in meeting or exceeding customer service goals
  • Handle each customer transaction in a professional and friendly manner
  • Thank each customer by name following a purchase
  • Offer assistance to customers proactively and without prompt
  • Use suggestive selling techniques with all customers
  • Meet or exceed solicitation goals for the Belk credit Rewards program
  • Meet or exceed Clienteling goals, where applicable
  • Understand the store's assortment, including inventory available at other stores and on belk.com
  • Use mobile devices to complete sales, where applicable
  • Use digital computer-based point-of-sale and other digital technology to enhance the customer shopping experience
  • Use the Belk App and inform customers about the Belk App to enhance their shopping experience
  • Use the Belk website to look up merchandise and complete in-store orders for customers
  • Work professionally and pleasantly with coworkers, customers, and managers to accomplish defined tasks
  • Maintain Belk professional dress standards and appearance
  • Maintain floor and stock areas consistent with store standards
  • Support the Operations Team to ensure new merchandise is unpacked and displayed in a timely manner and stored in a place that does not obstruct customer access to the department
  • Follow the ROCC the Dock process
  • Ensure timely set-up, including signage for promotional events
  • Follow procedures for all systems, including counts, markdowns, re-tickets, and inventory control
  • Comply with store policies, including those concerning attendance and tardiness
  • Accept additional duties or share responsibilities during busy times and/or as requested by the Sales Team Manager
  • Assist Operations teams with all non-sell duties as assigned by the Sales Team Manager
Requirements
  • No education requirement
  • Experience in retail preferred
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to use and learn industry technology preferred
  • Ability to use computer keyboard, touchscreen monitor, handheld devices, standard telephone, and other related business equipment
  • Hand manipulation to remove sensor tags
  • Ability to push/pull pounds when moving stock carts
  • Task demands vary in each department due to different types of merchandise. Stocking requirements can involve reaching above and below shoulder level and lifting 25-50 pound boxes
