About the Job
The Department of Transportation is seeking a highly motivated Public Realm Project Specialist to join its Public Realm Unit. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing pedestrian-centered interim (SIP) and capital projects, working closely with community partners and stakeholders to create vibrant and inclusive public spaces. This position involves designing and leading project development from initial research and analysis through public engagement and recommendations.

Key Responsibilities
- Developing project proposals and managing project priorities and schedules to meet deadlines
- Creating public presentations to stakeholders and community members
- Collaborating with community partners and stakeholders to design streets informed by both immediate and long-term community needs

Requirements
- A baccalaureate degree in architecture or a related field from an accredited college or university
- Two years of full-time experience in planning, design, research, investigations, and/or studies related to urban design development programs
- Strong understanding of contemporary design and planning theories, public realm maintenance, and operational demands in dense urban environments
- Excellent writing, editing, and oral presentation skills

What We Offer
The City of New York offers a competitive salary range of $62,000 - $90,000 per year, depending on experience. Additionally, employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
