The City of New York is seeking a skilled Public Health Specialist to join our team at the Bureau of Maternal Infant and Reproductive Health. As a key member of our Division of Family and Child Health, you will play a critical role in promoting physical and socio-emotional health, and reducing chronic disease in New York City families and children.

With an estimated salary range of $65,000 - $90,000 per year, this position offers a competitive compensation package, including benefits such as medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a robust worksite wellness program.

Job Description:

As a Public Health Specialist, you will be responsible for conducting home visits to eligible mothers, providing prenatal and postpartum health education, and assessing the home environment for health hazards. You will also collect and analyze data on case assignments, connect families to internal program specialists and community resources, and participate in marketing programs through community events.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college, including or supplemented by twelve semester credits in health education, or in health, social or biological sciences;
  • One year of experience as a Public Health Adviser, Assignment Level I, or at least one additional year of experience in a health promotion or disease intervention/prevention program;
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice, particularly racial, gender, and LGBTQ equity.
