1. Medication Distribution: Efficiently pick, prepare, package, label, and deliver medications to designated areas within patient care units, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in fulfilling medication orders, including stat orders, new prescriptions, refills, and transfers. Maintain optimal storage conditions to minimize medication errors and ensure proper inventory levels. 2. Inventory Management: Monitor and maintain appropriate medication inventory levels, ensuring the timely removal of expired products and proper receipt of medications from suppliers. Utilize technology for efficient stock management. 3. Cross-Functional Proficiency: Demonstrate skills in various areas such as IV admixture, purchasing, and controlled substances. Perform calculations and manipulations to prepare medications according to established policies and safety guidelines. 4. Technical Expertise: Master the use of technology in pharmaceutical care, including electronic medical records and inventory management systems. Troubleshoot technology-related issues independently. 5. Communication Skills: Respond to inquiries from nursing and ancillary staff in a professional manner, ensuring accurate and safe medication delivery while adhering to HIPAA regulations. 6. Alignment with Strategic Goals: Contribute to departmental objectives that align with the overarching goals of Yale New Haven Health. Qualifications
EDUCATION: A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with a college degree preferred. Completion of a pharmacy technician training program is advantageous.
EXPERIENCE: A minimum of six months of experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting is required, with hospital experience preferred. Strong customer service and communication skills are essential.
LICENSURE: Current registration or eligibility for registration as a Pharmacy Technician in the state of employment is required, along with certification from the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or equivalent.
SPECIAL SKILLS: Proficiency in mathematical calculations and the ability to work effectively with technology are necessary.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Employees may be required to work on-call shifts and must be able to lift and move items of varying weights. The work environment may involve exposure to various elements.
