Job Title: Nursing Team Leader Behavioral Health

Job Summary:

The Nursing Team Leader Behavioral Health is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff in the Behavioral Health Units and associated clinical areas of the Erie County Medical Center Corporation (ECMCC). The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge of professional nursing principles, practices, and terminology, as well as good knowledge of hospital unit operations and applicable laws, rules, regulations, and ECMCC policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise nursing staff in the Behavioral Health Units and associated clinical areas.
  • Develop and implement work schedules, monitor staffing levels, evaluate employee performance, and participate in disciplinary matters.
  • Oversee behavioral health staff to ensure compliance with various regulations, chart audit guidelines, and regulatory requirements.
  • Plan and implement orientation and training programs for professional nursing staff in behavioral health.
  • Disseminate information to staff, insurance companies, patients, and family members.
  • Monitor and maintain appropriate stock of materials and equipment.
  • Perform quality inspections and assist in developing responses to quality matters and corrective actions.
  • Receive, review, and respond to matters brought forth by patients, caregivers, departments, staff, and organizational members.
  • Serve as a clinical resource person, patient advocate, and clinical role model.
  • Perform professional nursing work as needed.
  • Participate in and organize meetings, committees, trainings, in-services, conferences, and other events.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and two years of registered professional nursing experience, with one year in a behavioral health setting.
  • Graduation from a School of Nursing and four years of registered professional nursing experience, with one year in a behavioral health setting.
  • An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A) and (B).

Special Requirements:

  • Possession of a license and current registration to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State at time of application and maintenance throughout duration of appointment.
  • Possession of Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification at time of appointment and maintenance throughout duration of appointment.
  • Completion of New York State Office of Mental Health-Bureau of Education and Workforce Development (BEWD) certified safety program within three months of appointment and participation in annual re-training.

  • Your degree must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education.
  • Verifiable part-time and/or volunteer experience will be pro-rated toward meeting full-time experience requirements.
