Medical Director Opportunity in Detention Center Setting

Job Summary:

Spectrum Healthcare Resources is seeking a Primary Care Physician to provide medical services at a detention center in Folkston, GA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in family medicine, internal medicine, or emergency medicine and be certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine or the American Board of Family Medicine.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide primary care services to patients, including routine check-ups, acute care, and chronic disease management.
  • Conduct physical assessments, initial and follow-up assessments for acute and chronic medical conditions, and ensure appropriate diagnostic and therapeutic tests and services are available, utilized, and monitored.
  • Act as initial reviewer and/or approver for all outside referrals/consults to specialty services not offered at the local facility.
  • Conduct daily rounds on patients housed in the Medical Housing Unit and/or consult with clinicians as necessary regarding their care.
  • Supervise advanced practice providers, nursing staff, pharmacists, and medical assistants, including fulfillment of APP collaborative practice duties and requirements and delineation of scope of practice for medical assistants.

Requirements:

  • MD or DO degree or be certified by ECFMG.
  • Active GA medical license.
  • Current DEA registration.
  • Board certification or eligible in Family, Internal, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Active BLS certification.
