Trailer Technician Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough diagnostics and perform major and minor repairs on trailers.
  • Repair air and electrical systems, ensuring optimal trailer performance.
  • Diagnose issues and provide recommendations for repairs, prioritizing efficiency and quality.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, accurately recording work progress and hours.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, utilizing required safety equipment.
  • Perform regular inspections on trucks, identifying potential safety or service needs.
  • Utilize specialized tools and equipment to perform repairs and maintenance.
  • Communicate effectively with the parts department to obtain necessary parts.
  • Document work performed daily via labor tickets, ensuring accurate record-keeping.
Trailer Technician Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years of experience in the heavy-duty trucking industry or a related field.
  • Ability to perform basic repairs and maintenance using specialized tools and equipment.
  • Proficient knowledge of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to operate vehicles and equipment used for diagnostic purposes.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to lift at least 100 pounds.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent experience required.
  • A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory.
  • Cummins or Navistar Certifications are preferred.
  • Welding and fabrication experience is highly valued.
