Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Public Health Laboratory Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our laboratory services division, you will be responsible for providing routine consultant work of considerable difficulty in clinical, chemistry, microbiological, environmental, biological, and molecular areas.

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluating information to determine compliance with standards
  • Ensuring quality control guidelines are being met
  • Ensuring confidentiality of patient information according to state and federal guidelines
  • Examining laboratory materials, including samples, to determine safe handling procedures are followed
  • Ensuring expired materials are disposed of as required by safety rules and regulations
  • Interpreting results of sample testing from various laboratory outputs
  • Analyzing data by breaking information down into separate pieces and determining its utility
  • Analyzing and interpreting Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) data
  • Providing guidance and expert advice regarding appropriate laboratory procedures
  • Making recommendations for changes in operations which affect the efficiency and quality of division operations and services

Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in physical sciences, ecology, life sciences, medical laboratory science, pre-medicine, or other acceptable science
  • Successful completion of an accredited medical laboratory scientist program and two years of full-time professional work in the related field
  • A valid motor vehicle operator's license throughout the duration of employment
