Job Title: Construction Superintendent

The Gorman Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Construction Superintendent to lead our construction team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed safely and efficiently, in accordance with project plans and specifications.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Project Oversight: Supervise and direct field personnel and labor force for successful completion of projects.
  • Scheduling and Coordination: Schedule crews and ensure completion of work within time allowed.
  • Quality Control: Perform quality control duties and responsibilities regarding work being performed.
  • Communication: Communicate clearly with construction, dispatch, maintenance, and administration teams.
  • Problem-Solving: Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution.
  • Knowledge and Skills: Have working knowledge of all tasks necessary to complete the project as bid/estimated.
  • Project Requirements: Be thoroughly familiar with all project requirements and specifications/policies.
  • Meetings and Reporting: Meet formally with Construction Manager to discuss/evaluate project status.
  • Flexibility: Flexibility with regard to schedule, working early and/or extended hours, nights, weekends, and holidays when required.
Requirements:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent plus three to five years in a supervisory position preferred.
  • Leadership and Communication: Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical Skills: Must have a working knowledge of computers and the Microsoft office suite.
  • Driver's License: Must have a valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Regulatory Knowledge: Knowledge of DOT and regulations, must be able to comprehend MSDS sheets and make good judgments.
  • Mathematical Skills: Strong knowledge of math calculations used in all aspects of roadway construction.
  • Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational, analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Travel and Physical Demands: Will be required to travel and pass a physical and drug screen.
Work Environment:

Candidate must be able to tolerate moderate to loud noise level (PPE will be provided, including hearing protection as required), long hours standing, walking, and laboring outdoors in varying weather conditions - frequently in extreme heat.
