Compensation and Benefits
The expected salary range for this position is between $139,000.00 and $221,000.00, contingent upon the candidate's qualifications, experience, and market analysis at the time of hiring. This role may also qualify for an annual discretionary incentive award. Additionally, SMBC offers a competitive benefits package to its employees.
Role OverviewThe Senior Manager will oversee the expense management reporting function within the SPDADFAD Controllers Group, focusing on both Personnel and Non-Personnel expenses, month-end closing activities, and collaboration with Head Office reporting. This role requires interaction and coordination with various internal departments within SMBC and its subsidiaries.
Key Responsibilities- Report directly to the Director of Management Reporting, responsible for payroll reconciliations and general ledger adjustments.
- Ensure the execution of tasks while enhancing existing processes and implementing robust controls surrounding payroll entries and reconciliations.
- Manage expense and budget oversight, including expense classification and accrual accounting.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of core operational processes, focusing on administering defined procedures, analyses, and report preparation in accordance with IFRS and U.S. GAAP.
- Perform duties with accuracy and timeliness.
- Bachelor's degree in accounting; MS/MBA is advantageous.
- CPA certification is mandatory.
- A minimum of 10 years of relevant accounting experience.
- Detail-oriented, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks with strong analytical skills.
- Proficient in financial reporting and general accounting practices (US GAAP, J-GAAP, IFRS).
- Familiarity with bank reconciliations and fixed asset accounting is preferred.
- Knowledge of accounts payable vendor maintenance is a plus.
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end closing processes.
- Proficient in Oracle Application and/or other accounting software.
- Advanced Excel skills (including VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, etc.).
- Experience in the financial services industry is a plus but not required.
