Position Overview: The role involves gathering, confirming, and documenting all patient details throughout the registration process to ensure accurate records for all services rendered. Additionally, the position supports the scheduling and ordering of various examinations as needed. The individual will be responsible for upholding the confidentiality of patient information and managing patient reception, guidance, and communication.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Patient Interaction: Welcomes patients and accurately inputs their information into the relevant system. Confirms the patient's identity and utilizes appropriate identification and greetings when responding to phone inquiries. Prioritizes calls and messages, directing them to the suitable person or department as required.
  • Patient Registration: Efficiently collects all patient demographic information. Secures necessary signatures on relevant documents. Ensures a valid order is present in the system and orders additional tests if necessary (labs and/or imaging). Assists management with quality assurance tasks as needed. Completes the inpatient admission process in designated areas.
  • Insurance Verification: Gathers insurance details and scans cards into the system. Demonstrates proficiency in insurance verification and utilizes verification tools and online resources. Checks for medical necessity and performs diagnosis coding and abstracting when required. Completes authorization requests as appropriate.
  • Payment Collection: Collects patient copayments and enters payments directly into the system. Prepares patient estimates when necessary and manages cash reconciliation and deposits.
  • Medical Records Management: Maintains confidential medical records. Obtains necessary records for office visits and processes requests for medical information in line with established policies and procedures. Responds to patient requests for medical records.
  • Appointment Scheduling: Coordinates medical office appointments and/or diagnostic services, including physical, occupational, or speech therapies, surgical procedures, or other imaging services.
Qualifications:

High School diploma or GED is required. Previous experience in customer service is essential, while prior experience in a medical office setting is preferred.

A record processing assessment will be conducted in Human Resources.

A medical terminology certification is preferred.

Salary Information: $26.65 per hour
Pay Grade: 16
Compensation: May vary based on overall experience, qualifications, shift, and location.
