We are seeking a highly skilled and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Rooftop Ambassador at the Rane Culinary Science Center. As a key member of our hospitality team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional service to our guests and ensuring a memorable experience at our rooftop venue.
Key Responsibilities- Engage with Guests: Develop a deep understanding of our concept and partnership with Auburn University, and thoughtfully engage with all customers visiting The Library and The Rooftop at The Laurel.
- Prepare for Service: Perform mise en place for daily service based on business levels expected, and oversee our guests' experience following The Laurel, The Rooftop at the Laurel's, and IHP's standards of service.
- Provide Exceptional Service: Ensure guest preference and dietary preferences are recognized throughout the library, Pool Cabanas, and Rooftop Bar, and monitor and observe guests' dining experience to ensure satisfaction with food and service.
- Maintain a Clean Environment: Always maintain a neat and clean work environment, and be available to perform lateral service as needed to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the rooftop as directed by the rooftop manager or immediate supervisor.
- Knowledge of Food and Beverage: Have a comprehensive knowledge of beer, wine, cocktails, and spirits, as well as food menus across both outlets on the rooftop, and be able to prioritize and balance bar guests' orders with restaurant orders.
- Check Identification: Check identification to verify legal age requirements of customers, and provide personalized service to our hotel guests at the pool and cabanas, or local visitors at the rooftop lounge.
- Monitor and Anticipate: Monitor and observe guests' experience, and ensure guests are satisfied with beverages and service. Anticipate and respond promptly and courteously to any requests.
- Support the Team: Assist the Guest Experience Experts in setting up and breaking down each food and beverage presentation in The Library, and transport food from the 6th floor kitchen to various food service outlets, including the rooftop bar, lounge, cabanas, and any special requests from guests in The Library.
- Communicate Effectively: Communicate effectively with front of house and back of house team members to ensure a highly executed dining experience, and have a comprehensive knowledge and ability to answer questions about our food, beverage, and overall hotel offerings.
- Physical Demands: Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time, consecutively, and be able to safely lift and easily maneuver multiple plates of food and carry bus tubs frequently weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Teamwork: Be able to work with students on occasion, and have the ability to organize and plan your service around training and teaching throughout every interaction when students are present.
- Flexibility: Team members must have a flexible work schedule and ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, and be able to actively look and prepare for severe weather that could affect business levels on the rooftop and pool.
- Background in Hospitality: A background in serving in an upscale hotel, rooftop, and/or pool environment is preferred.
- Responsible Vendor Course: Upon selection, able to complete the Responsible Vendor course for all team members 18 years old and above.
- Basic Math Skills: Possess basic math skills and be able to handle money and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Positive Attitude: A positive attitude is essential for this role.
