Family Medicine Physician/Practitioner

Health Advocates Network, Inc. is seeking a qualified Family Medicine Physician/Practitioner to join our team at a facility in Williamsburg, VA.
Job Summary:We are looking for a skilled physician to provide medical care to adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient populations. The ideal candidate will have experience working with in-patient adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult, forensic, and geriatric populations.
Responsibilities:- Responsible for patient care, including examination, evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of medical illnesses for adult and geriatric psychiatric inpatient population.
- Serves as medical consultant to the attending psychiatrist/practitioner.
- Completes admission medical assessments, including history and physical examinations, mental status examination, and entering admission orders.
- Orders diagnostic/therapeutic tests and procedures.
- Monitors patients' progress, including laboratory values and special procedures with appropriate follow-up or referrals as needed.
- Consults with authorized representatives/legal guardians on patient medical status.
- Collaborates with attending psychiatric practitioner if needed, providing DSM-5 diagnoses that are valid, complete, and supported by timely and appropriate assessment.
- Provides coverage to the medical clinic and admission suit to ensure the admission process is completed.
- Prescribes medications at the lowest effective dose in accordance with rational clinical practices.
- Assesses and addresses medication side-effects and reports adverse drug reactions.
- Ensures timely and quality documentation in patient records in accordance with policies, procedures, regulatory standards, and guidelines.
- 3+ years of experience as a Physician/Practitioner.
- Experience working with in-patient adult admissions or geriatric admissions and acute and chronic health management of adult, forensic, and geriatric populations.
- Comfortable working on admissions work-up and potential rapid turnover.
- Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary treatment team.
- BLS Healthcare Provider certification is required.
- Competitive pay rate of $237/hour.
