Job Title: Behavior Specialist

Community Independent School District is seeking a highly skilled Behavior Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our special education department, you will play a vital role in supporting students with disabilities and promoting positive behavior in our schools.

Job Summary:

The Behavior Specialist will work collaboratively with teachers, counselors, and other staff members to develop and implement behavior intervention plans that meet the unique needs of each student. This position requires a strong understanding of behavior analysis, instructional strategies, and special education law.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement behavior intervention plans for students with disabilities
  • Collaborate with teachers and other staff members to provide behavioral support and interventions
  • Conduct functional behavior assessments and develop behavior plans
  • Provide training and coaching to staff members on behavioral strategies and interventions
  • Participate in IEP development and implementation
  • Collect and analyze data to inform behavioral interventions
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or related field
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Emotional/Behavioral Disorders Endorsement preferred
  • Autism Specialist certification preferred
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate
Working Conditions:

This position requires frequent interruptions, clerical work, and the ability to deal with angry or upset students. The Behavior Specialist may be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchairs or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
