The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner at LifeSpan plays a vital role in treating psychiatric illness and addiction in the outpatient and inpatient settings. As an educator, consultant, and liaison, you will work closely with healthcare providers to optimize patient care across the continuum.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a caseload of patients in partnership with the healthcare team to optimize health status and coordinate care over time and across healthcare settings.
- Provide leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of standards, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support the patient care delivery model.
- Oversee care coordination in acute, home care, and ambulatory care settings as feasible.
- Assist the healthcare team to achieve mutually agreed-upon healthcare goals by providing necessary support, education, and encouragement.
- Perform advanced practice skills under the supervision of the Medical Director.
- Provide expert consultation for clinical issues, promoting increased knowledge and skills for the consultee.
- Participate in the education, clinical research, and mentoring of healthcare providers.
- Facilitate patient/family education in the area of expertise.
- Masters of Science Degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
- Specialty certification in Psychiatric Mental Health required.
- Baccalaureate in Nursing.
- Certified in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
- Two years related experience as RN in acute care hospital setting and preferred 1-2 years experience as a nurse practitioner.
General hospital and/or outpatient clinic environment with occasional stressful conditions associated with patient care.
