Key Responsibilities
  • Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations, including fires and disasters, and have knowledge of all departmental procedures related to emergency preparedness.
  • Provide assistance to nursing staff in restraining patients to ensure their safety and the safety of staff.
  • Assist in the removal and transport of deceased patients from patient care areas to the morgue, and provide assistance to funeral home personnel and Medical Examiner's Office personnel as needed.
  • Patrol the hospital campus, investigate suspicious activities, and complete work orders to correct any observed work hazards.
  • Investigate incidents assigned or observed, and complete required reports in a factual and concise manner.
  • Monitor CCTV monitors and answer internal and external telephone calls, directing public safety response to specific areas as requested.
  • Interact extensively with patients, visitors, employees, and physicians, and maintain knowledge of all hospital and departmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Enforce all policies under the Security/Safety Department's jurisdiction, and maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of personal information.
  • Answer questions and direct visitors, patients, and employees in a professional and courteous manner, always exhibiting a pleasant temperament.
  • Make quick decisions in emergency situations, and work proficiently in a team environment.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • 1 year of law enforcement experience as a sworn police officer preferred, and 1 year of hospital security experience preferred.
  • Driver's license required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification required.
  • License to carry a handgun within 90 days required.
Travel Requirements

Up to 20% travel may be required.
