Shift: 8 Hours - Evening Shifts

Job Schedule: Part-time

Weekly Hours: 24.00

Compensation: $30.75 per hour

Role Summary

The Certified Nursing Aide (CNA) acts as a caregiver, providing essential support to residents during their scheduled shifts in assisted living.

The CNA delivers personalized nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents under the guidance of a supervising nurse.

Responsibilities include assisting with fundamental health care needs and daily activities such as bathing, grooming, dressing, and monitoring vital signs, while also offering emotional support and personal care.

Depending on the facility, the CNA may help residents with mobility, utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment, and may also conduct range of motion exercises.

In addition, the CNA is responsible for meal preparation and creating a pleasant dining atmosphere for residents, assisting them with meals and providing hydration and nutritional supplements as needed.


Depending on the facility, the CNA may support healthcare providers with procedures, collect non-invasive specimens, and monitor vital signs.

In certain locations, the CNA may also administer medications as directed by a licensed nurse, adhering to state regulations.

The CNA is tasked with documenting care outcomes, medication administration, and any changes in resident conditions, ensuring effective communication with the supervising nurse regarding care concerns.

Additionally, the CNA may assist with housekeeping and laundry services to maintain a clean and functional living environment for residents.

The role includes participation in wellness and recreational programs, encouraging resident engagement.


The CNA is trained to provide age-appropriate care that addresses both the physical and psychological needs of residents as outlined in their care plans.

Knowledge of dementia care may be required depending on the facility.

As a member of the nursing team, the CNA is expected to adhere to infection control policies and utilize Personal Protective Equipment as necessary.


The nursing department operates 24 hours a day, and employees may be required to work varying shifts, including weekends and holidays, based on departmental needs.

Attendance at committee meetings may also be expected occasionally.

When students are involved in resident care as part of their training, all staff may be asked to provide guidance.

Qualifications

- High school diploma or GED preferred, but not mandatory.
- Minimum age of 16. Previous experience in assisted living is advantageous.
- Required Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification from the State Board of Nursing.
- Completion of annual competency testing and maintenance of continuing education credits, with a minimum of 12 hours required each year.
- Certification and registration with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry may be necessary, depending on the state.
- Depending on facility requirements, this role may necessitate a valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
