Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Maintenance Mechanic to join our team at the City of Atlanta, GA. As a key member of our facilities team, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine semi-skilled maintenance tasks to ensure the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general maintenance, repair, and installation tasks, including installing/repairing doors, changing light bulbs, locks, fences, and basic plumbing duties.
  • Repair gutters/down spouts and roof leaks, assemble furniture or equipment, hang pictures, blinds, and event setups/breakdowns.
  • Perform exterior facility grounds/landscaping tasks and exterior facility pressure washing.
  • Provide assistance to other positions as needed and communicate effectively with co-workers and other employees concerning work orders, problems, and requests for assistance.
  • Plan and organize daily work orders, establish priorities for the completion of work in accordance with needs, and estimate expected time of completion of work assignments.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three (3) years of building repairs and maintenance, carpentry, or trade proficiency in basic plumbing, simple electrical, carpentry, drywall, tile, flooring, and painting.
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Building Operators Certification (BOC).
  • Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) Certification.
  • International Facility Management Association (IFMA) Certification.
  • HVAC Certification.
Physical Requirements

Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting. Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. Carrying of objects up to 50 lbs; the ability to lift 50 pounds and bending, kneeling, stooping, and twisting, is frequently required.
