Job Summary

This Sales Associate role is located at our Grand River Ave. store in Redford, Michigan. As a Sales Associate, you will be responsible for maintaining outstanding customer service, generating sales, and merchandising product. You will also be expected to own assigned departments and support the store management team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Greet all customers and assist in answering questions about merchandise and locating products.
  • Use the S.A.L.E.S. process to help customers find everything on their lists.
  • Complete all company and departmental paperwork accurately, including price change bulletins, operation actions, red tags, and bin tags.
  • Receive, open, and unpack cartons or crates of merchandise, checking paperwork against items received when required, and replenish stock when necessary.
  • Display and maintain merchandise on end caps, shelves, counters, or tables following company planogram, building displays when necessary to attract customers and promote sales within specified guidelines.
  • Maintain on-hand integrity through inventory adjustment reports, including cycle count and negative on-hand.
  • Follow the nightly maintenance checklist to ensure proper store recovery and cleanliness.
  • Maintain familiarity with new products and ad merchandise.
  • Have sound awareness of surroundings, customers, etc., and practice loss prevention techniques to minimize shoplifting losses.
  • Follow GLA policies and procedures for all transactions.
  • Engage the customer to ensure they are receiving all the benefits of being an Ace Rewards member and actively seeking participation from them.
Requirements
  • Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively with customers or associates of the organization.
  • Ability to understand and respond to verbal instructions or questions.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an associate encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the associate occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The associate may work near outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Compensation Details: $12.50 per hour
