Position Overview

The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a crucial role in delivering exceptional nursing care within the Inpatient Care Unit. This position involves utilizing comprehensive assessment and intervention skills while adhering to the nursing process for a designated group of patients during assigned shifts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Effective Communication: Engage with patients, team members, and management using both written and verbal communication skills in a timely and considerate manner.
  • Quality Patient Care: Ensure compassionate, efficient, and cost-effective care while maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Health Education: Integrate teaching principles into practice, demonstrating competence in health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Leadership: Exhibit leadership qualities and apply them appropriately within the nursing role.
  • Critical Thinking: Utilize critical thinking and systematic data collection in the delivery of nursing care.
  • Nursing Process: Implement appropriate assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation in nursing practice.
  • Human Care Relationships: Develop and sustain caring relationships, considering the human experience of health, illness, and healing.
  • Knowledge Integration: Apply knowledge effectively for the patient populations served within the Inpatient Care Unit.
  • Flexibility: Be prepared to float to other departments as needed during low census periods.

Note: This position requires a minimum commitment of 36 hours per week, including some weekends, with potential floating to other departments during low census.

Qualifications
  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited institution.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from an accredited institution (preferred).
  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Vermont or an active Compact Multi-State RN license in good standing.
  • One year of basic medical-surgical nursing experience (preferred).
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers within three months of hire.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within one year of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) training within one year of hire.
  • Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition and Stabilization (PEARS) certification (preferred).
  • Familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as a team player.
  • Strong multitasking abilities.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and prevention skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
