Commercial Facilities Engineer

About the Role

This position is a roving position that works closely with the Property Manager, Chief Engineer, or Director of Engineering. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of building systems and be able to perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs, including equipment troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Conduct schedule property inspections to include lighting audits, roof inspections, parking lot inspections, and read sub meters.
  • Respond to emergency calls after hours on a rotating basis.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Assist in routine monitoring of service contractors for outsourced major repairs.
  • Maintain inspection records on building-related equipment and report abnormalities to manager.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience in commercial general maintenance functions such as minor plumbing, HVAC, and electrical.
  • Troubleshooting and repair experience in lighting and electrical controls, plus general building maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with building fire alarm and sprinkler systems required.
  • CFC Certification
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Technical School Training or other related Air Conditioning and Heating technical training'
  • Knowledge of and experience in commercial building/property maintenance, HVAC principles, basic electrical, and basic plumbing.
  • Evidence of mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks and be a self-starter.
  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tool operation and safety.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000 per year based on location and experience.
