Job Summary

As a key member of the anesthesia care team at Kaiser Permanente, the Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) plays a vital role in ensuring the safe and effective administration of anesthesia to patients undergoing surgical or medical procedures. This position requires a high level of expertise, professionalism, and attention to detail, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities
  • Anesthetic Evaluation and Administration: Conduct thorough anesthetic evaluations of patients prior to surgical procedures, deliveries, or other medical procedures, and administer anesthesia as needed, in accordance with Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures.
  • Patient Monitoring and Care: Monitor patients' vital signs and reactions during and after anesthesia, and take remedial action when necessary, in accordance with departmental policy.
  • Documentation and Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate and complete records of procedures performed, patients' conditions, and anesthesia administered, in accordance with established standards.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Work collaboratively with anesthesiologists, surgeons, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care, and communicate effectively with patients and their families to explain tests, procedures, and disease processes.
  • Professional Development and Compliance: Stay up-to-date with regulatory requirements and legal consequences of anesthesia care, and demonstrate a commitment to professional development and continuing education.
Requirements
  • Education and Certification: Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program and an accredited school of anesthesia, with current certification as a CRNA in California.
  • Licensure and Registration: Current RN license in California and certification as a CRNA from the Council on Certification of Nurse Anesthetists or the Council on Recertification of Nurse Anesthetists.
  • Skills and Abilities: Demonstrated understanding of regulatory requirements and legal consequences of anesthesia care, proven ability to exercise professional prerogatives based on sound clinical judgment, and demonstrated track record of following precautionary and preventive measures in giving patient care.
