Summary

About Our Opportunity
The City of Asheville is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Wildlife Control Specialist within the Development Services Department. The role involves enforcing municipal regulations and managing the care, control, and licensing of animals within city limits. Responsibilities include responding to public inquiries, investigating complaints, and issuing citations for violations of animal control laws.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Address service requests related to stray or nuisance animals, injured wildlife, and concerns regarding animal welfare.
  • Participate in on-call duties as required.
  • Issue both verbal and written warnings, as well as civil citations for breaches of animal control regulations.
  • Secure warrants for criminal charges when necessary.
  • Capture and transport stray animals to the shelter, maintaining accurate records of these actions.
  • Provide care for sick or injured animals, ensuring their well-being during transport to appropriate facilities.
  • Assist the Animal Services Director in managing appeals related to contested violations and develop cases for legal proceedings.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation, including investigation reports, case files, and daily logs.
  • Educate the community on animal services, regulations, and responsible pet ownership practices.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
