Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Building Inspector III to join our team at the City of Kingsport, TN. As a Building Inspector III, you will be responsible for ensuring that all construction projects within the city comply with applicable building codes, regulations, and ordinances.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial construction projects to ensure compliance with building codes and regulations.
  • Verify that construction plans and specifications conform to code requirements.
  • Issue certificates of occupancy and other necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with contractors, city personnel, and the public to resolve code-related issues.
  • Stay up-to-date with changes in building codes, regulations, and ordinances.
Requirements
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Five years of full-time construction work experience, including experience as a foreman, inspector, or superintendent.
  • ICC Certification as a Residential Building, Plumbing, and Mechanical Inspector.
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities and frequent exposure to hazards.
