About the Role

The Physiatrist - Medical Rehabilitation Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting the health, independence, and quality of life for veterans with disabilities. This position requires a high level of expertise in medical rehabilitation and treatment, with a focus on promoting optimal functioning, pain management, and quality of life for veterans.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and treat patients with acute and chronic pain from musculoskeletal and other conditions, stroke, spasticity, traumatic brain injury, amputation, post-operative rehabilitation, and electromyogram testing.
  • Develop and implement interdisciplinary rehabilitation plans to promote optimal functioning and quality of life for veterans.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
  • Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote self-management and independence.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in medical rehabilitation and pain management.
Requirements
  • Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
  • Completion of a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation or a related field.
  • Board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation or a related field.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
