The Physiatrist - Medical Rehabilitation Specialist will play a crucial role in promoting the health, independence, and quality of life for veterans with disabilities. This position requires a high level of expertise in medical rehabilitation and treatment, with a focus on promoting optimal functioning, pain management, and quality of life for veterans.
Key Responsibilities- Diagnose and treat patients with acute and chronic pain from musculoskeletal and other conditions, stroke, spasticity, traumatic brain injury, amputation, post-operative rehabilitation, and electromyogram testing.
- Develop and implement interdisciplinary rehabilitation plans to promote optimal functioning and quality of life for veterans.
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care to patients.
- Provide education and support to patients and their families to promote self-management and independence.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest research and best practices in medical rehabilitation and pain management.
- Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree from an accredited medical school.
- Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia.
- Completion of a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation or a related field.
- Board certification in physical medicine and rehabilitation or a related field.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
