Position Summary
The Manufacturing Engineer will serve as a key advisor to various departments including manufacturing, engineering, and purchasing. Utilizing expertise in manufacturing methods and materials, the role focuses on enhancing safety, quality, delivery, cost efficiency, and workforce productivity.
Key Responsibilities
Process Optimization
- Conduct thorough analysis of time and motion, methods, estimating, process engineering, and plant layout to ensure balanced methodologies and capacity alignment with customer demands.
- Define manufacturing processes, systems, equipment, and materials, considering cost, time, ergonomics, quality, and quantity.
- Propose modifications, prepare capital justifications, and oversee the design and development of new manufacturing processes and systems to support economic goals.
- Document and communicate manufacturing changes and operating instructions to relevant personnel, providing training on product and process updates.
- Evaluate and justify the acquisition of new machinery and equipment.
- Oversee the selection and installation of equipment, and facilitate training for employees on its operation.
- Manage requisitions and purchase orders, including those from subordinate staff.
- Administer routings and Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM).
- Identify and assess project scope changes.
- Guide new product development with a focus on design for manufacturing and assembly.
Problem-Solving Initiatives
- Generate and maintain comprehensive documentation for all tools utilized.
- Review engineering designs to estimate manufacturing costs and tool requirements.
- Advise on design alterations to enhance manufacturing efficiency and process planning.
- Assist engineering, sourcing, and manufacturing teams in resolving product-related challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or a related Engineering discipline.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Familiarity with product knowledge is advantageous.
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing is preferred, with Green Belt or Black Belt certification being a plus.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
- Willingness to travel less than 10% of the time.
