Job Summary

This high-growth position plays a critical role in tax and internal audit for a global company.

The role reports to the VP Controller and works closely with internal departments and external tax consulting firms.

This is a North American role with a hybrid position based in Carlsbad, California, where a good accounting and tax team is in place.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Manage all tax projects handled by internal Sr. Tax Accountant and external tax consulting firms, including sales and use tax, property tax, income tax, and international tax.
  2. Bring in-house tax returns, tax provisions, transfer pricing documentation updates, and other tax projects to the extent possible.
  3. Manage the global tax restructure to maximize tax benefits and minimize risks.
  4. Work with Sr. Tax Accountant and external tax firms to meet all tax return filing deadlines.
  5. Safeguard the Company from tax audits and penalties.
  6. Research and provide consultation for international finance teams regarding taxes in their countries.
  7. Work with Internal Control Manager to identify and resolve issues in all processes with relevant departments to improve internal efficiency and operation.
  8. Make business recommendations to each department to improve their processes.
  9. Work with ERP team to complete Microsoft Dynamics 365 implementation globally to utilize all system functions.
  10. Coordinate with the rest of the Finance team to improve finance and accounting processes as needed to ensure data accuracy and meet deadlines.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting with a CPA and prior Public Accounting experience required.
  • Experience in Tax and Internal Audit on a global basis.
  • Extensive management experience and ability to actively involve and roll up your sleeves to get the work done.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exposure to global entities and global teams, including international tax and global internal process improvement.
  • Ability to execute and follow-through to produce complete, accurate, and timely deliverables.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy required.
  • Must be able to work independently, think critically, and make continual efforts to push through positive changes in processes.
  • Must also be proactive and flexible in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
