Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities.

  • Provide direct instruction and support in various educational settings, including inclusive classrooms and small group settings.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, therapists, and parents to ensure coordinated and comprehensive support for students.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instructional strategies to facilitate academic and behavioral growth.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
  • Implement positive behavior interventions and supports (PBIS) to promote a positive and supportive classroom environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Arizona teaching certificate with a Special Education endorsement (cross-categorical or specific disability area).
  • Knowledge of best practices in special education, including IEP development and differentiated instruction.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and families.
  • Compassion, patience, and a commitment to advocating for students with disabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Experience working with students with specific disabilities such as autism spectrum disorders, emotional disabilities, or intellectual disabilities.
  • Familiarity with assistive technology and its application in educational settings.
