Job Overview

Job Summary:

The Supervisor of Special Inspections is a Licensed Civil Engineer (PE) who serves as the project engineer in-responsible-charge of CME's contracted special inspections and structural tests.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the Project Special Inspections Program, including initial set-up and technical review of test/inspection reports
  • Act as a consultant on construction-related problems, failures, or issues, and perform on-site inspections and report results
  • Coordinate with Registered Design Professionals and Code Enforcement Officials, and serve as Owner's Agent in execution of the Special Inspections Program
  • Manage non-conformance lists, prepare project test & inspection plans, and assist in the prevention of construction material failures and workmanship problems
  • Provide technical supervision, technical evaluations, and mentorship of engineering technologists and inspectors

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) or current Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with goal of earning PE
  • Experience with building codes and standards governing special inspections and structural tests
  • A friendly, forthright, diplomatic, and communicative business demeanor
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations
