This position requires security clearance and is based onsite.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acts as a technical consultant, providing assistance to both internal teams and external partners, including government entities, on matters related to electro-optical systems.
  • Recognized for proficiency in electro-optical systems, especially in ground and space-based surveillance and identification of space objects, covering visual, near-infrared, and infrared spectral ranges, along with the integration, testing, and calibration of these systems.
  • Offers technical advice to the systems engineering division regarding the development and acquisition of optical payload systems, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Employs cutting-edge technologies and scientific methodologies to drive innovation in the electro-optical systems sector.
  • Gains a thorough understanding of system requirements for assigned projects and the design specifications that fulfill these requirements.
  • Oversees the design and development of optical payload systems and their respective components.
  • Assists in the formulation of operational concepts and strategies for electro-optical systems tailored for government clients.
  • Conducts and supervises studies focused on system performance, design optimization, and evaluations of system designs.
  • Promotes stringent engineering practices in research and development efforts, with an emphasis on managing technical risks.
  • Monitors acquisitions, concentrating on components of electro-optical payload systems to ensure cohesive integration and achievement of mission objectives.
  • Prepares and presents documentation to keep stakeholders informed about project progress and to facilitate discussions with industry and government representatives.
  • Designs and implements tests to verify the optical, mechanical, and electrical integrity of components within electro-optical systems.
  • Analyzes test results from space-based electro-optical systems, leading initiatives to investigate and rectify any inconsistencies.
  • Capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a diverse, multidisciplinary team, which includes scientists, engineers, business professionals, and former military personnel.

Qualifications

  • Required: An active, transferable TS/SCI CI Poly U.S. government-issued security clearance prior to commencement.
  • A Master's degree in Science / Applied Photonics.
  • A minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in electro-optical sensors and systems, encompassing UV, visual, near-infrared, and infrared spectral regimes, with a focus on analysis, design, development, fabrication, integration, testing, and operations. Candidates with at least ten (10) years of relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Extensive knowledge of electro-optic processing, characterization, and testing, along with familiarity with the supporting electronics and calibration processes related to electro-optical systems.
  • A robust foundation in various optical systems, including those with passive and active control elements.
