Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensing Specialist to join our team at the State of Florida. As a key member of our Child Care Regulation department, you will be responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of children in licensed childcare facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct regular inspections of family day care homes and child care facilities to monitor compliance with Florida Statutes and Child Care Regulation standards.
  • Process initial and renewal applications, including background screening clearances and training as required by statute.
  • Investigate complaints on licensed providers and illegal childcare operations, preparing reports and initiating administrative action as required.
  • Provide technical assistance and support to childcare providers to promote sustained compliance with Child Care Regulation standards.
  • Manage the progressive discipline and administrative action processes, including providing timely administrative complaint notifications to providers.
  • Respond to telephone and email inquiries from the public, parents, other agencies, and providers, providing accurate information on childcare programs.

Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree in a related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience in child care regulation, social work, or a related field.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel to various locations throughout the state.
