Position Overview:
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive health care services to patients experiencing both acute and chronic health issues, as well as those in need of preventive care and health education. Under the guidance of a supervising physician, NPs provide care across various departments within Kaiser Permanente, adhering to established practice guidelines and protocols. Their responsibilities include conducting thorough physical assessments, interpreting diagnostic tests, and managing patient care from diagnosis through recovery.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather and document patient histories and subjective data.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and collect objective data.
- Formulate assessments and diagnoses based on clinical findings.
- Design and implement effective management plans for patient care.
- Facilitate referrals to appropriate healthcare facilities and community resources.
- Prescribe medications and pharmacologic treatments as necessary.
- Develop educational plans to promote patient understanding and compliance.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up care is planned and executed.
- Uphold compliance with Kaiser Permanente's Principles of Responsibility, ensuring patient confidentiality and ethical conduct in all interactions.
Qualifications:
Experience:
- A minimum of one year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant is required.
Education:
- Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant Program or a recognized RN and NP Program.
- For NPs: A Master's degree in nursing is required.
Licensure and Certification:
- Must possess a valid Registered Nurse License in California, along with a National Nurse Practitioner Certification and a California Nurse Practitioner Certificate.
- For Physician Assistants: A valid California Physician Assistant License and National Certification are required.
- National Provider Identifier and Basic Life Support certification are also necessary.
Additional Requirements:
- Consideration will be given to candidates for the Nurse Practitioner job code 50158.
- New graduate NPs or PAs must obtain the California Furnishing Number and, if applicable, the DEA Registration Number within the first year of employment.
- The probationary period may be extended based on departmental requirements.
- Current DEA Registration Number is mandatory.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Pediatrics, Obstetrics/Gynecology, Emergency Department/ Urgent Care, and procedural skills is highly desirable.
