Service Unit Department Manager RN

Kaiser Permanente seeks a highly skilled and experienced Ambulatory Services Manager to oversee the operations of a large unit or multiple units providing high-quality, accessible, and cost-effective care to members across the continuum. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in nursing management, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to develop and maintain clinical practice standards, budgets, and staff development.
Key Responsibilities:- Operational Management: Manage the day-to-day operations of a large unit or multiple units, ensuring that staff provides high-quality care and is in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Clinical Leadership: Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to establish, implement, and maintain patient care and quality service standards that meet member and internal client expectations.
- Patient Advocacy: Act as a patient advocate, resolving patient care issues and ensuring that patients receive high-quality care.
- Process Improvement: Design and evaluate processes to improve systems and patient care results across the continuum of care.
- Financial Management: Develop and monitor budgets and resource allocations, and identify and implement strategies to reduce costs and improve quality of care/service.
- Human Resources: Determine the appropriate staff mix for the department, develop processes to screen, interview, hire, train, and maintain the competency of all department staff, and provide ongoing staff development.
- Risk Management: Manage and resolve human resource, labor relations, employee and department safety, and risk management issues.
- Policy Development: Develop, implement, and monitor departmental policies and procedures that support the organization's goals and business objectives.
- Experience: Minimum five (5) years of nursing experience in management/leadership roles required, with a minimum of five (5) years of supervisory experience.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, with a Bachelor's degree in nursing or a health-related field required, or four (4) years of experience in a directly related field.
- Licensure: Registered Nurse License (California) and Basic Life Support certification required.
- Additional Requirements: PALS, PEARS, and/or ACLS certifications may be required for positions in specific departments, and knowledge of the Nurse Practice Act, The Joint Commission, and other local, state, and federal regulations is essential.
- Experience: Minimum three (3) years of experience in an outpatient care setting.
- Clinical Specialization: Clinical specialization in the area of practice is preferred.
- Education: Master's degree is preferred.
