Job Title: Nurse Practitioner Consultant

We are seeking a highly skilled Nurse Practitioner Consultant to join our team at Mental Health Systems, Inc. (MHS). As a key member of our healthcare team, you will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the success of our organization.

Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner Consultant will be responsible for prescribing psychotropic medications for all program clients. You will work closely with our treatment team to provide comprehensive assessments, develop treatment plans, and ensure the highest level of patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychiatric assessments and present them at team and treatment planning meetings.
  • Supervise the treatment team in the comprehensive assessment of psychiatric history.
  • Collaborate with registered nurses in the assessment of physical health, making appropriate referrals to community physicians.
  • Prescribe psychotropic medications and conduct regular assessments of therapeutic responses and side effects, providing patient education as needed.
  • Provide on-site crisis assessment and be available for on-call hours as needed or assigned.
  • Respond appropriately to medical emergencies.
  • Comply with formulary as mandated by County Medi-Cal guidelines; participate in the Patient Assistance Program to ensure maximum cost-effectiveness.
  • Initiate appropriate and timely interventions on an ongoing basis; provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Provide documentation per format requirements for individual client progress, describing behavior and treatment objectives and outcomes.
  • Assume an active part in the treatment team, providing appropriate input to the treatment plan.
  • Seek guidance from the agency Medical Director when necessary and implement recommendations and directives.
  • Respond to and cooperate with inquiries and recommendations of the Medication Monitoring Committee; make corrections to documentation and adjustments to procedures as needed.
  • Provide input as required during initial client intake and assessment.
  • Comply with all MHS and program rules, policies, and procedures, including HIPAA standards.

Qualifications

  • A master's degree or Ph.D. from an accredited institution of Graduate Medical Education with an approved Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Board certified or Board eligible with the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN).
  • Active DEA certificate to prescribe in the State of California.
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite and EHR software.
  • Ability to problem solve and react appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively collaborate with a team.
