Role Summary:
This role supports the YMCA's mission of community enhancement through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The instructor will lead group classes in a safe, enjoyable, and positive atmosphere that is welcoming to participants of all skill and fitness levels. The instructor will also foster a sense of community within the class and adapt sessions as necessary to accommodate diverse health, ability, and cultural needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct engaging, enjoyable, and safe yoga classes, as directed by the supervisor, to fulfill the YMCA's mission and objectives.
- Provide guidance and answer questions from participants to assist them in achieving their health and wellness goals.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of wellness trends to offer valuable information and support to members.
- Establish genuine relationships with members, facilitating connections among participants and the YMCA.
- Observe and modify teaching methods to support the diverse capabilities, health conditions, and cultural backgrounds of all participants.
- Celebrate the achievements of participants in relation to their personal goals and overall well-being.
- Keep accurate attendance records for classes.
- Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures; respond appropriately to emergency situations.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold a nationally recognized yoga certification and possess a minimum of one year of teaching experience.
