Position Overview

The Lead Software Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and testing solutions that align with functional and technical specifications while meeting quality and performance standards. This role requires proficiency in various technologies and programming languages, including C#, .NET Core, Microservices, Cloud Architecture, and APIs to create robust applications.

The engineer will take a holistic approach to software development, focusing on both user experience and functionality. They will explore emerging technologies such as machine learning, IoT, and artificial intelligence to enhance business performance through innovative solutions like proactive customer service and outage management.

Key Responsibilities

- Deepen knowledge of emerging technologies and software delivery practices.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, system analysts, developers, and ecosystem partners to transform innovative ideas into scalable solutions.
- Analyze and assess new and existing products, procedures, and workflows related to business systems.
- Work within an Agile environment, demonstrating strong teamwork and collaboration.
- Embrace emerging technologies to expedite product and service launches through rapid prototyping and iterative methods.
- Successfully transition prototypes to production, adhering to engineering best practices.
- Build, configure, or customize technical solutions, including reusable components and cloud services.
- Collaborate closely with System Architects and various technology teams to promote the adoption of architectural patterns and tools.
- Manage automation and monitor application integration as code progresses through assembly and testing phases.
- Participate in emergency response roles during utility outages or storms, which may require after-hours work.

Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree with 5 years of relevant experience or 8 years of related experience.
- Proficient in software development using C#/.NET Core and Azure Cloud technologies, including Azure Cosmos DB, Azure SQL Server, and Azure DevOps.
- Passionate about leveraging digital technology to shape the future.
- Familiarity with current technologies, trends, and standards.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to develop quick solutions to business challenges.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external teams to resolve critical issues during product development.

Preferred Qualifications

- Master's degree in a relevant technology or industry field.
- Experience collaborating across different functional domains and technologies.
- Knowledge of emerging technologies such as Microservices, DevOps, IoT, and artificial intelligence.
- Familiarity with Workforce Management and Quality Management technologies.
- Self-starter with the ability to set up and configure development and testing environments.
- Experience in the utilities industry and excellent interpersonal skills.
