About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to have a Graduate degree from an accredited school of nursing or physician assistant studies, a current unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse and Nurse Practitioner, or as a Physician Assistant, and a current DEA license. Two years of advanced practice experience is preferred.

Your Responsibilities
- You will perform routine medical examinations on inmates or detainees under established guidelines.
- You will diagnose and treat acute and chronic medical illnesses.
- You will provide medical treatment and services, consistent with the provision of basic health care services, in conjunction with a physician.
- You will formulate comprehensive treatment plans and prognosis based on the patient's health conditions.
- You will prescribe medication dosages, routes, and frequencies based on patients' diagnosis permitted under State and DEA licensure.
- You will order, perform, or interpret the results of diagnostic tests such as complete blood counts (CBCs), electrocardiograms (EKGs), and radiographs (x-rays) with physician oversight as needed.
- You will analyze and interpret a patient's history, symptoms, physical findings, and diagnostic information to develop appropriate clinical assessment and treatment plan.
- You will document all health care services provided and include comprehensive records of health care plans and prognosis in the patient's medical record.
- You will counsel patients on prescribed drug regimens and possible side effects or interactions with other drugs or substances.
- You will recommend interventions to modify behavior associated with health risks.
- You will educate patients about self-management of acute or chronic illnesses, tailoring instructions to patients' individual circumstances.
- You will consult with or refer patients to appropriate specialists when conditions exceed the scope of practice or expertise.
- You will read current literature, talk with colleagues, and participate in professional organizations or conferences to keep abreast of developments in nursing.
