Equipment Maintenance Specialist

Tesla is seeking a skilled Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our team. As a key member of our manufacturing operations, you will play a critical role in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our advanced 4680 battery cell production equipment.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical and electrical systems, with experience in troubleshooting and repairing complex equipment. You will work closely with our Process and Equipment Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance on all industrial production and mechatronic equipment
- Diagnose equipment failures and communicate required actions across relevant teams
- Perform major equipment repairs, rebuilds, and installations
- Collaborate with Process and Equipment Engineering teams to improve equipment reliability and maintenance protocols
- Perform corrective maintenance on pneumatic, hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment
Physical Demands:
- Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods, up to 12 hours a day
- Ability to stand and walk for up to 12 hours a day, including over varied and uneven terrain
- Frequently and repetitively lift, push, and carry up to 35 lbs, including the ability to carry 20 lbs up and down stairs
- Frequently and repetitively bend, lift, and reach
- Stoop, lay, bend, reach, squat, kneel, crouch, twist, and crawl for extended periods, including up to 12 hours a day
- Climb and maintain balance on ladders, scaffolding, or other high structures
- Ability to find issues in a work process and receive safety signals using sight, touch, or hearing
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment, including but not limited to: PAPR, safety glasses, safety shoes, bump caps, and adhere to prescribed safety rules and guidelines
Requirements:
- Three (3) or more years of experience working in a maintenance capacity on production manufacturing equipment and/or have equivalent training or relevant education
- Demonstrate ability to analyze problems and error conditions, identify root causes, and implement viable long-term solutions
- Experience using a volt/multi-meter and interpret schematic diagrams to troubleshoot electrical systems
- Ability to read and interpret detailed mechanical assembly drawings and accurately measure and inspect tolerance
- High-speed precision conveyance knowledge utilizing magnetics, belts, rotary dials, and pneumatics
- Must have command of the English language, both written and verbal
